Important People in the French Revolution.

 

Louis XVI 

King of France before and during the French Revolution, Was at first known as a good ruler but his spells of indecisiveness and conservationsim along with the fact he was married to Marie Antoinette became key factors for the Mob's uprising. He was destituted as King when the Monarchy was abolished and eventually got tried for his crimes against the revolution.  On Monday, 21 January 1793 Louis XVI was taken to Place de la Concorde where he was decapitated by the Guillotine.


Marie Antoinette

Was the wife of King Louis XVI and was known to be the true force behind the indecisive king. However a few months after her husband's death she followed aswell. The Acusations held against her included  the hosting of  orgies in Versailles, sending millions of livres of treasury money to Austria, plotting to kill the duc d'OrlĂ©ans, having sex with her son, and declaring her son to be the new king of France.


Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette

A French General who served as the commander in chief of the Garde Nationale, His job was to try to maintain order during the french revolution. When The King attempted his escape, LaFayette who was in charge of his custody was blamed and accused of conspiring. He was imprisoned and not released until after the revolution.
